You can pretty much get any kind of food you want in London. Keep in mind, though, that places tend to be more expensive than you expect — part of it because it’s in the UK, part is because it’s a big city, and part is because they can get away with fleecing the tourists. In a typical five-week Study Abroad session I’ll eat at least once at all of these.
- Nando’s $$ (South African flame-grilled peri-peri chicken; everywhere)
- Poppie’s Fish & Chips $$ (my favorite lowbrow chippie; many locations)
- Flatiron $$$ (steak; many locations)
- Wok to Walk $$ (Asian fusion; many locations)
- Pasta Brown $$$ (near the Strand)
- Senzala Creperie $$ (at Brixton Market)
- Padella $$ (Italian; at Borough Market)
- Five Guys $$ (o.k., sue me, but I love a good burger, and none of the UK chains like Honest Burger do anything for me; many locations)
- Pret A Manger $ – (everywhere; great takeout sandwiches and salads)
